I studied Zoology, Botany, Genetics, Palaeontology, and finished my studies in Biology with a Diploma thesis on the roosting behaviour of migratory songbird species. I earned my PhD with a dissertation on physiological responses of beech trees to drought stress.

During the last years, I initiated, conducted and coordinated international research projects in forestry science.

For many years, the work presented on this website was my hobby. Since 2018, I also hold an appointment at the Institute for Frontier Areas of Psychology and Mental Health in Freiburg, Germany (http://www.igpp.de/allg/welcome_EN.htm). I am convinced that by asking the right questions, nature offers a tremendous amount of neglected and seemingly unexplained riddles about life on every level of biological organisation.
